Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy Program

Energizing Young Minds Through Distance Education

Set upon the course of improving the quality of life of rural communities not just for the present but also for the future, the AMORE Program has been helping students in rural Mindanao better their learning experience. Through the use of renewable energy-powered multimedia technology, both teachers and students experience better teaching and learning conditions.

From 2002 to 2009, over 55,000 students in over 200 rural schools have been given access to multimedia- based distance education powered by renewable energy with help from Program partners such as Sunpower Corporation-Philippines, the Department of Energy, the British Embassy-Manila, Petron Foundation/Habitat for Humanity and IBM KidSmart.

Educational content in multimedia format had been sourced by the AMORE Program from other programs such as the Real World Productions’ IELTLM (Improving English Language Teaching and Learning in Mindanao Program), and the ABS-CBN Foundation's Knowledge Channel and E-Media (Education through Multimedia) Program.

Improved scores in government-administered tests, better student reception, easier teaching experience are just some of the documented impacts of renewable energy-powered distance education. Read here of more stories.

For Phase 3, AMORE is set to improve the learning experience of tens of thousands more school children in rural communities. RE-powered, multimedia-based distance education facilities shall be put up in over a hundred rural schools across Mindanao.

If you wish to be part of the AMORE story, we would love to hear from you!
